Hedgehogs are nocturnal animals and sleep in a nest or under bushes before searching for food in the night. When out at night, hedgehogs communicate through snuffles, grunts and squeals.

Did you know? There are over 1000 different species Bat!

While other mammals glide, Bats are the only mammals capable of continued flight! They are also nocturnal creatures, using a special skill called echolocation, which allows them to navigatein the dark.

Did you know? the Fox is a distant relative of the Wolf!

A Fox can run up to 30 miles per hour and hide food to eat later on. Foxes eat almost anything, including Berries, Worms, Spiders and even jam sandwiches!

A visit to Little Owl Farm Park simply isn’t complete until you watch and cheer along our Rainbow Sheep race around our mini track! We have re-coloured our beautiful sheep and not only are they brighter than ever, they are all keen to impress!

We try to schedule our races on a daily basis depending on the weather, but as long as it isn’t too wet and we have someone to cheer our sheep racers on we will have at least one race a day! Keep an eye out for the Sheepstakes race times at the park for the day you attend.

We have built a home for lots of our new friends here at Little Owl Farm Park! Introducing the Critter Cabin, a place full of vivariums that hold all kinds of creatures! What might you find in them? Take a look!

Terrapins are from the same family as Turtles and Tortoises. They live in fresh water locations like ponds and lakes and have a tough shell made from two parts that connect at the sides. They also have very strong mouths but no teeth!

Corn Snakes are a small, slender species that can measure up to 182cm in length. The belly of a corn snake looks like kernels of corn which is where the name “Corn Snake” originated from, and they live in the south-east of America.

Bearded Dragons are a type of lizard that have spines on their throats and can grow up to 22 inches in length. Bearded Dragons get their name from when they enlarge their throat (looks like a beard) when it is threatened.

Giant Snails have been introduced around the world from their home in east Africa. They can grow to be up to 20cm long and weigh up to 32g. When the Snail is fully grown, their shells can up to 9 whorls (swirly parts)!

Scorpions have 8 legs and have a narrow tail that arches over their back with a venoumous stinger on the end. Scorpions can be found all over the world, except for places as cold as Antartica. If you put a scorpion under UV light, it glows because of the chemicals that are present in their bodies.

Tarantulas can be found in rainforests and jungles in America & Africa. Tarantulas prey on insects and grass-hoppers, and the predators that they stay away from are weasels, owls, snakes and even people!

Little Owl Farm Park love to help families & friends create memories with us! We are keen for our visitors to enjoy even more animal interaction (the animals love the fuss too!) which is why we have now installed an outdoor hand washing station facility for all of our visitors to use if they touch or feed the animals.

There are also some handy signs to teach children how to wash their hands properly, to make sure that their hands are all sparkly and clean! Take a look below for our wonderful instructions!

These wonderful Pygmy kids were introduced to the world on 17th August! Pygmy Goats are very sociable creatures so it is very important that they have some other goat friends around. They feed on green grass, plants and grains and are at their happiest when they have something to jump or climb on. Read more about our Pygmy Goats on “Our Animals” page!

In July, the last of our four baby Fallow Deer (Fawn) was born. This wonderful moment was witnessed by a family of visitors who let us know that the event was happening. Our special Mother Deer was very late, almost a month behind the other Mother Deer. The new born fawn is doing well and is still trying to hide from Farmer Jim in the long grass. Fallow Deer generally feed on grasses, but are partial to young leaves, cereals, berries and acorns. Read more about our Fallow Deer on “Our Animals” page!

Our very own Grumpy Gertrude, the Sow Pig, started having ( farrowing) her piglets on Sunday 24th July. Throughout the day visitors were kept on tender hooks and Gertrude had a total of nine pigs when the park closed. She then carried on for another hour or so and went on to have another six piglets, totalling to 15! Our Gertrude did very well! Read more about our Fallow Deer on “Our Animals” page!
